forestdaygood god i wrote this fic in 2019 and its fifth birthday just passed! happy birthday queen!! currently as i write this, closed doors and new beginnings has 316 kudos which in my opinion is such an insane number jskdfhsjkdfh incredibly funny to me that while this is my most popular fic, it is also my 2nd ever fic and i currently have over 40 fics written!! tbh i don't think i will ever write anything this popular ever again but thats perfectly fine with me!
im going to first say i do love the concept of this fic, however, i do cringe at the way i wrote this hjkhgfhjkljhgf i wrote this when i first started writing fic and i have never written stories before unless it was for an assignment for school. so its rough folks. At this point in time i think i did read a few of the more popular fics in the twice tag but i was yet to have a full understanding of the way i would have enjoyed characterising them today sjkfhdsjkfhs i mean its not that bad but there is little description and a bit too much dialogue! i do still have that tendency to write too much dialogue but i have been slowly working on trying to be more descriptive with my writing. that said i might write a dw post in the future doing a deep dive into my writing style bc i have never learnt how to properly communicate how i think i write!
now on to the fic itself! i do think its quite nice how this entire world i have written stemmed from a singular photo of dahyun looking like postman pat. i do not remember why i chose the ships that i did. i think i read a lot of minayeon and samo at the time and got inspired but this was over five years ago and i am not sure! also this was actually my first dahyun pov fic!!! what i wanted the most from writing this is to show dahyun's empathy and how she helps the members in her own small ways even if she still does her job. super sorry to jihyo who got the short end of the stick but she does get 2yeon in her next life so i hope thats enough of an apology. the end of this fic was the first thing to be set in stone bc what other possible way could this fic end? dahyun doesnt tell them what door to pick but they choose the same door regardless and that choice leads them to being twice! isnt that nice?
fun fact: i originally intended for this world to be in my other fic universe! universe 9 was going to the dahyun from this fic and after an hour of searching and getting distracted heres a sneak peek into what i wrote for it. i had to go back and look at the previous versions of the other fic delivery google doc. i do not remember why it was there but it was sjkdfhkdf i also dont remember why i chose not to use this in the end but i now think it would have been cool to add!!
i am also very thankful to ao3 user geryoneis who wrote me a wonderful remix of this fic for ficmix and let me wonderful messages about it as well, i think about it often and i hope they are doing well wherever they are!!!
I think it would be interesting to see how i would write this fic with my current writing style. It's mostly the same but also different ya know? thank u for reading this despite how rambly it is and i will see yall next time <3
