the end is never the end

so i wrote a fic inspired by the stanley parable!!
If you don't know what it is, its a game where you play a man named stanley and you can either listen to the narrator or not as you explore your work building when everyone has disappeared. it's a pretty interesting game to say the least! The narrator in the game gets pretty desperate once you start divurging from their intended path. I have admittedly not played through all endings but its such a fun and cool concept and one where i wanted to write a fic for.
Tinkering with the narrator is the main reason why I wanted to write this fic. You can see when the narrator finds something interesting and what they want nayeon to focus on. the narrator is clearly biased with the choices that they want Nayeon to make and that adds to the fun! I also wrote the narrator to be very endeared to random objects just to give the narration more personality and i hope it shined through. i also checked the stanley parable fic tag just to see what the fics were like and basically all of them were all in stanley's pov. i could have made it into nayeon's pov but where is the fun in that! this fic is basically the embodiment of that saying where ur writing should be like trying to wrangle your characters all into one place. this one is just literal in that sense.
In this fic, it hasn't been that long since the loops started that's why she still doesn't know all of the paths available to her and why the narrator seems so excited about the things they find as Nayeon chooses doors and all that. she still doesn't trust the narrator all that much and one of the main reasons why she didn't just take the door available to her. Even if she did, the loop would still reset actually but Nayeon doesn't know that yet. and so she trusted a dark ass hallway more than the narrator and that led to her death!
as i write this, i realise that i dont actually have that many deep thoughts about this fic. at its core its just a very fun concept that i wanted to try and i did! i say fun a lot in this but i think it shows what i want from my writing. if i dont actually have fun with it, whats the point?
With that said, gen fics are so incredibly underrated im gonna need people to write some more please ;-;
