2022 fic summary

forestdayhi everyone this year i wrote a few fics and updated a very old multi-chapter work i had! I wrote for twice, loona, bts, and [redacted]. This is also two months late but we are ignoring that.
1. to the beat of my heart - hyerim - 1.2k
this was a moonlight party gift for ao3 user waitsforlove and from their prompts i chose hyerim + slice of life/fluff! I originally had a few different ideas which include the idea of the ulysses bucket list from a reddit user who asks strangers he finds interesting to give him a challenge in which he has the rest of his life to complete and he does them! The whole story and how it actually began is very sweet and if you do want to read about it here you go.
In the end however I did settle for a very vague college au with a pining hyeju and sunshine yerim. in this fic, nothing of note really happens which i think is quintessential to slice of life. it's just hyeju and yerim preparing for an exam and hyeju dealing with feelings that she doesn't quite want to acknowledge yet. ten described this fic as figuring attraction for the first time which i find quite apt actually. in the end, hyeju and yerimi are still dancing around each other.
the addition of jiwoo and heejin was really to add to the worldbuilding of it all. i particularly liked the part where heejin winks at hyeju bc clearly her crush really isn't as hidden as she thinks it is. yerim is quite purposefully vague bc we are stuck in hyeju's head overthinking and trying to pretend she isn't in love with her bestie.
I also actually went into this fic with the goal of writing as little dialogue as possible. almost all of my fics are very dialogue-heavy so this was just an extra challenge to see if i could do it. and i think i did it quite well ^-^
some of the comments mentioned that they were able to visualise the fic which makes me T_____________T bc ya girl has aphantasia. if u don't know aphantasia it just means that i cant visualise stuff in my head. if u asked me to close my eyes and picture an apple, all i would see is darkness so for people to say they could see what I wrote happening? the best compliment ever. To write the dancing part i mimed some of the moves out sjkdfhjd but i have watched enough dance practices and videos to know how to describe common moves which i did here.
fav line: Yerim hums, her eyes flutter close and Hyeju thinks her heart might stop at the sight. Hyeju almost leans down. Almost is a lot, Hyeju thinks. Almost means that Hyeju does want this and almost is too much for Hyeju to handle.
2. choices - dahmo - 740
so this was in response to a prompt that someone gave me who asked for dahmo spiderman au. this actually went through like 3 different versions with differing vibes. There was a very serious one, a semi-serious one and this one! the reveal is the turning point in the fic in which it could have gone for a more serious tone but i just simply decided not to do all that.
i actually don't have all that many thoughts about this fic, its just very silly. i did put a focus on the banter which is always the more fun part of writing for me. i also found it fun for dahyun to be the criminal that momo has been tracking for months but once the reveal is done she is just so nonchalant about it. dahyun is just very tired of being broke and this person's got insurance, what's not to love :/

3. misunderstandings - gen - 1k
the only reason this fic was written is because i have such a deep hatred for the misunderstandings trope. i have read so many webtoons/manga with this trope i simply never want to see it again. the only exception to this rule is when the misunderstanding is something so stupid. like this fic!
i chose chae as the mc just bc i can see chae just taking at face value what the others say and do bc she loves and trusts them! surely they know what theyre doing (spoiler alert: they do not). she doesn't actually connect that everyone is using the same note that she and dahyun are using. she is just pure vibes and i love that for her.
i do hope the people who read this actually found it at least slightly humourous sdfjdh. it really focuses on them interacting with each other and picking fights which i love writing. i particularly liked tzuyu's part in all of this who just happily accepts all gifts, including a live crab and Chaeyoung!
fun fact: i didn't actually write this for tzuyu's birthday i just liked the setting skjdfhsdjf.

my entry for the datzu fic fest (zebbie i love u)!!!! i think this also went through a couple of versions before i went for settled datzu who don't need declarations of love to know. datzu are my ultimate duo. they are just so domestic and sweet with each other, what's not to love? i dont think i've ever posted a confession scene where someone declares they love another (that i remember) and open palm open heart doesnt depart from that trend at all. they just know and sometimes (a lot of the time) thats enough.
so this fic starts with dahyun and tzuyu at the dog park, hanging out with their dogs. tzuyu discovers a part of dahyun she doesn't know and what does dahyun do about it? opens her heart and lets tzuyu in by offering to teach tzuyu the very same activity that gave her calloused fingertips in the first place. dahyun who hides a lot of herself most of the time, inviting tzuyu immediately to share something with her? so soft so squishy! tzuyu also was struggling to find the best way to word her thoughts but dahyun knows what she means anyway ;-;
this fic is actually so domestic sdkhfskdj dahyun just knowing tzuyu needs to go home now and getting the both of them out of there. its very sweet i love them. there's not very much plot to this fic at all and as i said in the tags this fic is just maximum vibes.

5. blood bond - misana - 2.5k
omg blood bond sdkjfhsdkfsd. i forgot i had updated this. it only took me 2 years to upload a second chapter and i even uploaded a third one!!! i actually have two more chapters of this that are semi complete but i do have other writing priorities. i will hopefully add more to this universe in the future but for now it is shelved!
to be very honest i had chapters 2 and 3 basically complete like a month after i uploaded the first chapter of blood bond. i just did not want to deal with connecting the scenes together to make sense fsjfshdfk. and that process only took 2 years so :D i dont actually know if i could talk that much about this because a lot of what was written was by a different forestday.
what i do want to talk about is nayeon and chae's relationship. i love the juxtaposition of it all. chaeyoung who doesnt want anything to do it with this vs nayeon who desperately wants to be a part of it. there are plans to be made with the two of them and i hope everyone is ready for that ^-^
fav line: “Don’t get too close to the Queen, kiddies, she’ll bite,” She sings, as she walks away from the trio.
6. a lifetime of us - bts - 2.1k
this fic was a remix of heartache to sing by justawordshaker for ficmix!! it was actually quite an interesting challenge because i know absolutely nothing about bts sdkfhsdfj i actually signed up to write for gg but this fic of theirs really called out to me and thus created a lifetime of us.
my first thought after reading this one was a sequel where they willingly choose to stop. four years really can be a long time especially in an industry like kpop and as bts also announced a hiatus to support ther solo stuff, i mean it just had to be written. the most difficult part of writing this was characterisation bc i do not know these boys but justawordshaker's fic really helped me with that!! i tried incorporating little scenes from the original fic and to make what they choose to be consistent to the original.
a big goal of this one was to add some fluff to the main trio! these boys were going through it in the original they deserved a little relaxing skfhsdjf just gentle soft touches and understanding which i think would have developed through the four years from the original. hoseok now planning dates for them which a stark comparison to how he reacted four years ago. another thing was to show how theyve all grown throughout the years. i quoted a line that i liked with this fic, 'i don't want you to make a choice because of me,'. jeongguk was my immediate thought as the catalyst to their future!
I chose namjoon as the mc bc i dont think i am capable of getting into the head of 7 boys i dont know well and give it the justice it deserved. so namjoon who overthinks everything whle trying to be the best leader he can be. in the fic he's still haunted about what happened four years ago and he refuses to make them go through what they did. but what does he find? they've all grown in so many ways that he doesn't need to worry about them like that, not anymore.
i am really glad that the original author actually liked the fic as much as they did T___T
fav line: Jimin, out of all people, doesn’t deserve careless words. Namjoon breathes out and studies Jimin. . And it’s like Namjoon sees 23 year old Jimin, hiding himself behind his knees, but he blinks and now all he sees is a man who has seen the world, the bad and the good of it, and come out victorious.
7. the end is never the end - gen - 990
this is my favourite fic i've written this year! it is based off the game the stanley parable and i had such a wonderful time just experimenting with the narrator. i actually did write a dw post for it here so i won't go into too much detail into it here.
more gen and experimental fics please im begging ;-;
fav line: Nayeon uses a rather unnecessary amount of force as she moves the now ruined paperclip every which way within the lock. It is understood what she is trying to accomplish but alas the execution is, for lack of a better word, impatient. It however has done the trick with the pop of the lock and an unlit hallway welcoming her.
8. saviour - heechuu - 570
heechuu for my favourite person in the world, ao3 user itotoro i love u so much! this is just very soft heechuu in a superpowers setting. i dont actually remember what i was thinking when writing this i just wanted to give ten a gift sdkjfsdkjhfsd.

“Why are you being so dramatic? I’m just stealing from this very rich person who has insurance,”
“But it’s illegal!” Momo shrieks, her arms waving around the vault with priceless artefacts.

“Who names a cow, Fish?” Jihyo asks, dumbfounded, on top of the creaking chair.
“You didn’t buy that cow, did you?” We don’t have cow space,” Mina asks in concern.
“No, I rented Fish for the day, I’m not like someone who bought Tzuyu a live crab,”
“That’s for me?” Tzuyu points to herself.

Heejin lets electricity trickle to her legs and begins her run. It starts slow with Heejin controlling her breathing, controlling the output of the electricity coursing through her veins. She needs to keep the load low, needs to make sure there’s enough to push into a slide but not enough to slam into the wall 5 metres beyond the mark. She breathes in, slides. Breathes out, finds her outstretched foot a centimetre from Jiwoo’s. Heejin grins and looks up to adoring eyes.
“See?” Jiwoo smiles, all teeth and disappearing eyes. “You did it,”
final thoughts
i actually also wrote three anonymous fics in 2022 sdfhkjsdf, one for loona, one for twice and one for [redacted]! my fav from these three was the loona one and it was really stupid actually but so fun ^-^
tbqh this year was not the greatest writing wise but thats ok i still had fun despite it all!! theres already a list of things i want to write but we will see how everything goes :D
